The United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association (USCSA) held its third week of Alpine competition with races in the Midwest, Mideast, Southwest, Southeast, Grand Teton, Atlantic Highlands, Rocky Mountain, and Eastern Regions this past weekend.
1/18 - 1/19 Midwest
For the Midwest conference, the Lake Superior and Chicago division held its second race at Mt. La Crosse ski resort in La Crosse WI. The giant slalom events were held for both men and women on Saturday.
St.Olaf College claimed 1st place overall in the men’s giant slalom. The Ole’s were led by senior Graham Barwick in 2nd place behind Northern Michigan University’s junior Reed Heathman in 1st place by 0.6 of a second. St.Olaf College’s Austin Mjanger secured 3rd place and teammate Kerem Haymana placed 10th. Northern Michigan University placed 2nd overall. Heathman’s teammates Andrew Truman placed 4th and Nathan Dehart in 7th place. Northern Michigan University Women's alpine team took 1st overall on Saturday’s giant slalom race. Northern Michigan's sophomore Tommie Jo Springer placed 1st. Teammate Reagan Olli took 3rd behind St.Olaf’s freshman Maia Andrews in 2nd place by 0.28 of a second. Freshman Onalee Wallis of Northern Michigan University placed 4th. St.Olaf College claimed 2nd overall in the women’s giant slalom.
Sunday’s men’s slalom race was won by Northern Michigan University. Led by freshman Kyan Hopke placing 1st followed by teammates junior Reed Heathman in 2nd place and senior Andrew Truman in 3rd place. St.Olaf College took 2nd overall with senior Graham Barwick placing 5th followed by teammates freshman Austin Mjanger placing 6th and junior Kerem Haymana in 7th place. The women’s slalom team overall was won by Northern Michigan University. Senior Reagan Olli of Northern Michigan took 1st place over teammate Ella Wichert in 2nd place by 0.13 of a second. Teammate Ainsley Kirk took 3rd place. St.Olaf College took 2nd overall led by Maia Andrews in 4th place. St.Olaf’s Jessica Stanton placed 9th.
1/19 - 1/20 Grand Teton
The Grand Teton region held its 2nd race at Winter Park Ski Resort in Winter Park, CO. Sunday held both the men’s and women’s slalom events. Rocky Mountain College won the men's slalom event. Rocky Mountain’s Jules Clerice claimed 1st place followed by teammate Caleb Unger in 2nd place with a 1.55 second difference. Rocky Mountain’s Elio Turnes placed 4th behind University of Utah’s Tj Weaver in 3rd place. The University of Utah placed 2nd overall. Utah’s Harrison Wilson placed 6th followed by teammate Lucas Pavlicek in 7th place.
Rocky Mountain College also won the women’s slalom event. Rocky Mountain’s Eulalie Giraud took 1st place followed by teammate Elisabeth Grimkelsrud in 2nd place with a 2.87 second difference. Rocky Mountain’s Synne Gaustad Kvinlog placed 3rd. University of Utah placed 2nd overall with Paige Petersen in 4th place. Teammates Lexi Ornstein placed 6th and Melissa Umble placed 8th. Monday held both the men’s and women’s giant slalom events. Rocky Mountain College won the men's giant slalom event. Rocky Monutain’s Fredrik Straume claimed first place followed by teammate Jules Clerice with a 0.29 second difference. Rocky Mountain’s William Mjelde placed 3rd. University of Utah placed 2nd overall led by Tj Waver in 4th place. Utah’s Andrew Jacobs placed 7th followed by teammate Frank Brandt in 8th. Rocky Mountain College won the women’s giant slalom event.

1/18 - 1/19 Atlantic Highlands
The Atlantic Highlands region held its first race this season at Blue Mountain, PA. The men’s and women’s giant slalom events were held on Saturday. Columbia University took 1st place overall in the women's category. Columbia’s Lisa Engelen took 1st place over Princeton University's Sophie O’Connor in 2nd place by 0.84 seconds. Columbia’s Sloane Goldberg placed 3rd. Rutgers University claimed 2nd place overall led by Kylie Samuelsen taking 4th place.
The men's giant slalom event was won by Lehigh University. Aaron Martin took 1st place over United States Military Academy’s James Lahrman in 2nd place by 0.02 seconds. Lehigh’s Ian Kenyon took 3rd place. Fairfield University took 2nd overall led by Timothy Teguis in 5th place. Teammate Tj Rubin placed 10th.
The men’s and women’s slalom events were held on Sunday. The United States Military Academy took 1st in the women's category. Francesca Mann of Lehigh University took 1st ahead of Princeton’s Sophia Harrison Bregman in 2nd place by 0.84 seconds. Paige Berta of The United States Military Academy placed 6th and teammate Macie Marinich took 8th place. Fairfield University took 2nd place overall led by Sarah Whitaker claiming 3rd.
The men's slalom event was won by Fairfield University. Timothy Teguis of Fairfield University took 2nd place behind Jame Lahrman of The United States Military Academy in 1st place by 5.63 seconds. Fairfield’s Tj Rubin placed 8th followed by teammate Santiago Pastor in 9th place. Lehigh University claimed 2nd overall led by Jordan Bell in 4th place.
1/17 - 1/19 Eastern
The Eastern region has 4 divisions and this past weekend 2 divisions held races. The MacConnell region raced a two-day slalom event at Proctor Ski Area in Andover, NH, with slalom events taking place on Friday. Vermont State University at Castleton claimed 1st place overall in the women's field, with Andrea Rodriguez taking 1st place. Teammate Alice Pomi placed 3rd followed by teammate Emilie Stein in 4th place. Babson College placed 2nd overall. Julia Wiacek of Babson College took 2nd place behind Castleton’s Andrea Rodriguez by 0.19 seconds. Babson’s Amelie Alkier placed 9th followed by teammate Camryn Knowlton in 10th place.
In the men's field, Babson College claimed 1st place overall followed by Vermont State University at Castleton in 2nd place. Babson College’s Mads Fondevik Syversen claimed 1st place. Teammate James Rosenbloom placed 3rd followed by Elliot Perretta placed 4th. Castleton’s Sondre Andersen placed 3rd.
A second slalom event was held on Sunday. In the women's field, Babson College claimed 1st place overall. Vermont State University at Castleton placed 2nd. Babson’s Camyrn Knowlton led Babson with a 2nd place finish behind Castleton’s Alice Polm by 2.77 seconds. Babson’s Amelie Alkier placed 4th followed by teammate Alli Messier in 5th place. In the men's field, Babson College claimed 1st place sweeping the podium. Babson’s Mads Fondevik Syversen claimed 1st place followed by teammate James Rosenbloom in 2nd place by 1.06 seconds. Babson’s Michael Elliot Perretta followed in 3rd place. Clarkson University took 2nd place overall, led by Sonja Skaret Andersen in 5th place. Teammates Valero Echegoyen Pajares placed 10th and Nate Hazen placed 14th.
The Reynolds region held last weekend's race at Sugarloaf Ski Resort in Carrabassett Valley, ME. Friday held both the men’s and women’s giant slalom events. University of Maine at Farmington claimed 1st place in the men’s giant slalom event by securing the podium. Leading the team was Farmington’s Lake Lindelof in 1st place followed by teammates Lance Dolan in 2nd place and Colgan O’Keefe in 3rd place. New England College claimed 2nd place overall. Leading New England to 2nd was Hogan Bemis placing 11th. Teammates Owen Kizak placed 16th place followed by Robert Hotchkiss in 17th place.
St.Joseph’s College of Maine claimed 1st for the women's giant slalom event. St.Joseph’s Kathleen Yeaton led the team in 3rd place. Teammates Madelyn Zordan placed 4th followed by Hannah Golden in 5th place. University of Maine Farmington placed 2nd overall. Elanore Robb led the team with a 2nd place finish behind New England College’s Malin Alusic-Bingham by 2.54 seconds. Teammates Grace Mahmood placed 6th and Hokulani Caroselli placed 16th.
Saturday held both the men’s and women’s slalom events. University of Maine at Farmington claimed 1st place in the men’s slalom event. Farmington secured 8 of the top 9 spots, only losing 2nd place to St.Joseph College’s Jack Price. Farmington’s Sam Roy claimed 1st place by 0.25 seconds. Farmington’s Lance Dolan placed 3rd followed by teammate Sam McKee in 5th place. St.Joseph’s College of Maine took 2nd place overall with Jack Price In 2nd place. Teammates Sam Plummer placed 13th and Caleb Gorton placed 16th.
St.Joseph’s College of Maine claimed 1st for the women's slalom event. St.Joseph’s Hannah Golden claimed 4th place. Teammates Madelyn Zordan placed 5th and Kathleen Yeaton in 6th place. University of Maine Farmington took 2nd place overall. Farmington’s Hokulani Caroselli claimed 1st place over teammate Rosie St Cyr in 2nd place by 0.12 seconds.
1/18 - 1/19 Mideast
The Mideast region held its first race this season at West Mountain in Queensbury, NY. The giant slalom events were held for both men and women on Saturday. Hobart and William Smith College claimed 1st place in the men’s giant slalom event. Hobart and William’s Will Patton placed 1st followed by teammate Ethan Hine in 2nd place by 5.43 seconds. Teammate Jack Ross placed 5th. Colgate University placed 2nd overall led by Frank Stearns in 4th place. Teammates Matt Sisca placed 10th and William Fraser placed 12th. Colgate University claimed 1st place in the women’s giant slalom event. Colgate’s Kate Goodrich claimed 1st place. Teammates Carissa Dunlap placed 5th and Camille Collins placed 9th. Hobart and William Smith College placed 2nd overall led by Marjorie Plants in 3rd place. Teammates Emily Cain placed 10th and Kate Broderick placed 13th.
The slalom events were held for both men and women on Sunday. Hobart and William Smith College claimed 1st place in the men’s slalom event. Hobart and William’s Will Patton claimed 2nd place behind Skidmore College’s Justin Shafritz in 1st place by 1.08 seconds. Hobart and William’s Jack Ross placed 3rd and teammate Jack Meagher placed 7th. Colgate University placed 2nd overall led by Frank Stearns in 4th place. Teammates Matt Sisca placed 8th and James Beltz placed 15th.
Colgate University claimed 1st place in the women’s giant slalom event. Colgate’s Kate Goodrich took 1st place followed by teammate Charlotte Morris with a 3.76 second difference. Teammate Carissa Dunlap placed 7th. Hobart and William Smith College placed 2nd overall with Marjorie Plant’s placing 4th. Teammates Mia Crivelli placed 8th and Emma McKenna placed 12th.
1/19 - 1/20 Southeast
The Southeast region held its first race this season at Sugar Mountain, NC with slalom events held for both men and women on Sunday. The University of Virginia won the men's slalom event. Virginia’s Thomas Johnson placed 2nd behind Georgia Institute of Technology’s Derin Berkin in 1st place with a 8.44 second difference. Virginia’s Jack Allison placed 3rd and teammate Austin Chinn placed 8th. Virginia Tech placed 2nd overall with Pierce Hamlin in 9th place.
Georgetown University won the women's slalom event. Georgetown’s Chloe Vlases placed 4th followed by teammate Megan Ryan in 5th place. Teammate Meredith Monnich placed 8th. Virginia Tech placed 2nd overall with Julia Gregory in 7th place and teammate Charlotte Helson in 9th.

Teammates Jacob Wierer placed 7th and Ethan Burt placed 8th. Georgetown University won the women's giant slalom event. Georgetown’s Carolina Ritchie claimed 1st place followed by teammate Meredith Monnich in 2nd place with a 1.67 second difference. Georgetown’s Chloe Vlases placed 3rd. Virginia Tech placed 2nd overall with Julia Gregory in 7th place and teammate Charlotte Helson in 9th place.
1/18 - 1/19 Southwest
The Southwest region held its first race this season at China Peak Mountain Resort in Lakeshore, CA.
The giant slalom events were held for both men and women on Saturday. The University of California at San Diego claimed 1st overall in the men's giant slalom event. UC San Diego’s Ivan Ijzerman placed 1st over UC Santa Barbara’s Forrest Jones by 9.07 seconds. UC Santa Barbara’s Wiley Carver came in 3rd place. UC San Diego’s Alejandro Ostos placed 9th followed by teammate Oliver Phodes in 10th place. University of California at Santa Barbara claimed 2nd overall.
The University of California at San Diego claimed 1st overall in the women’s giant slalom event. UC San Diego’s Jordan Flood came in 1st place over UC Santa Barbara’s Kendall Spieler by 2.22 seconds. UC San Diego’s Lancia Carson placed 4th followed by teammate Chaney Szeto in 5th place. UC Santa Barbara’s Olivia Schulte placed 8th helping University of California, Santa Barbara place second overall.
The slalom events were held for both men and women on Sunday. The University of Southern California claimed 1st overall in the men's slalom event. Southern California’s Andrew Wyatt led the team in 2nd place behind UC San Diego’s Ivan Ijzerman by 27.95 seconds. Southern California’s Thomas Rankin placed 3rd followed by Johannes Peddinghaus in 4th place. The University of California at San Diego placed 2nd overall. UC San Diego’s Oliver Rhodes placed 8th followed by teammate Alejandro Ostos in 9th place. The University of California at San Diego claimed 1st overall in the women’s slalom event. UC San Diego’s Jordan Flood took first place over San Diego State’s Anna Potter by 2.48 seconds. UC San Diego’s Lancia Carson placed 3rd followed by teammate Chaney Szeto in 4th place. Southern California claimed 2nd overall led by Carolyn Marlin in 5th place.
1/19 - 1/20 Rocky Mountain
The Rocky Mountain region held its first race this season at Winter Park Ski Resort in Winter Park, CO. On Sunday both the men’s and women’s slalom events were held.
The University of Colorado at Boulder claimed 1st place overall for the men’s slalom event. Boulder’s Carson McCue claimed 1st place behind Western Colorado’s Tucker Schultz by 1.52 seconds. Boulder’s Riley Schmidt placed 5th and teammate Cole Gedeon placed 8th. The University of Denver placed 2nd overall. Leading the University of Denver was Hamilton Pederson in 4th place. Teammates Wade Hathorne placed 7th and Everett Harrington placed 15th.
The University of Colorado at Boulder claimed 1st place overall for the women’s slalom event. Boulder’s Jenna Blatchford led Boulder to victory with a 2nd place finish behind Colorado State University’s Katie Bervy in 1st place by 3.96 seconds. Boulder’s Kacey Benjaminson placed 3rd followed by teammate Sydney Kraabel in 4th place. Colorado State University placed 2nd place overall led by Katie Bervy in 1st place. Teammates Morley Schroeder placed 16th and Madeline McCarver placed 19th.
On Monday both the men’s and women’s giant slalom events were held. The United States Air Force Academy claimed 1st place overall for the men’s giant slalom event. The Air Force’s Joseph Olson placed 2nd behind Boulder’s Carson McCue by 2.36 seconds. The Air Force’s Luke Kirchmayr placed 3rd and teammate Tyler Bartick placed 5th. Colorado School of Mines placed 2nd overall. Gregoire Brougher of Colorado School of Mines placed 4th. Teammates Peter Spencer placed 9th and Alexander Ball placed 16th.
The University of Denver claimed 1st place overall for the women’s giant slalom event. Boulder’s Sydney Kraabel placed 2nd behind Katie Bervy in 1st place with a 13.42 second difference. Boulder’s Skylar Adelman placed 3rd followed by teammate Ellie Dunham in 4th place. University of Denver’s Emily Miller placed 7th followed by teammate Klara Niss. University of Colorado Boulder placed 2nd overall.

Farmington secured 8 of the top 9 spots, only losing 2nd place to St.Joseph College’s Jack Price. Farmington’s Sam Roy claimed 1st place by 0.25 seconds. Farmington’s Lance Dolan placed 3rd followed by teammate Sam McKee in 5th place. St.Joseph’s College of Maine took 2nd place overall with Jack Price In 2nd place. Teammates Sam Plummer placed 13th and Caleb Gorton placed 16th.
St.Joseph’s College of Maine claimed 1st for the women's slalom event. St.Joseph’s Hannah Golden claimed 4th place. Teammates Madelyn Zordan placed 5th and Kathleen Yeaton in 6th place. University of Maine Farmington took 2nd place overall. Farmington’s Hokulani Caroselli claimed 1st place over teammate Rosie St Cyr in 2nd place by 0.12 seconds.
1/18 - 1/19 Mideast
The Mideast region held its first race this season at West Mountain in Queensbury, NY. The giant slalom events were held for both men and women on Saturday. Hobart and William Smith College claimed 1st place in the men’s giant slalom event. Hobart and William’s Will Patton placed 1st followed by teammate Ethan Hine in 2nd place by 5.43 seconds. Teammate Jack Ross placed 5th. Colgate University placed 2nd overall led by Frank Stearns in 4th place. Teammates Matt Sisca placed 10th and William Fraser placed 12th. Colgate University claimed 1st place in the women’s giant slalom event. Colgate’s Kate Goodrich claimed 1st place. Teammates Carissa Dunlap placed 5th and Camille Collins placed 9th. Hobart and William Smith College placed 2nd overall led by Marjorie Plants in 3rd place. Teammates Emily Cain placed 10th and Kate Broderick placed 13th.
The slalom events were held for both men and women on Sunday. Hobart and William Smith College claimed 1st place in the men’s slalom event. Hobart and William’s Will Patton claimed 2nd place behind Skidmore College’s Justin Shafritz in 1st place by 1.08 seconds. Hobart and William’s Jack Ross placed 3rd and teammate Jack Meagher placed 7th. Colgate University placed 2nd overall led by Frank Stearns in 4th place. Teammates Matt Sisca placed 8th and James Beltz placed 15th.
Colgate University claimed 1st place in the women’s giant slalom event. Colgate’s Kate Goodrich took 1st place followed by teammate Charlotte Morris with a 3.76 second difference. Teammate Carissa Dunlap placed 7th. Hobart and William Smith College placed 2nd overall with Marjorie Plant’s placing 4th. Teammates Mia Crivelli placed 8th and Emma McKenna placed 12th.
1/19 - 1/20 Southeast
The Southeast region held its first race this season at Sugar Mountain, NC with slalom events held for both men and women on Sunday. The University of Virginia won the men's slalom event. Virginia’s Thomas Johnson placed 2nd behind Georgia Institute of Technology’s Derin Berkin in 1st place with a 8.44 second difference. Virginia’s Jack Allison placed 3rd and teammate Austin Chinn placed 8th. Virginia Tech placed 2nd overall with Pierce Hamlin in 9th place.
Georgetown University won the women's slalom event. Georgetown’s Chloe Vlases placed 4th followed by teammate Megan Ryan in 5th place. Teammate Meredith Monnich placed 8th. Virginia Tech placed 2nd overall with Julia Gregory in 7th place and teammate Charlotte Helson in 9th.
The giant slalom events were held for both men and women on Monday. Virginia Tech won the men's giant slalom event. Virginia’s Pierce Hamlin placed 5th. Teammates Jacob Wierer placed 7th and Ethan Burt placed 8th. Georgetown University won the women's giant slalom event. Georgetown’s Carolina Ritchie claimed 1st place followed by teammate Meredith Monnich in 2nd place with a 1.67 second difference. Georgetown’s Chloe Vlases placed 3rd. Virginia Tech placed 2nd overall with Julia Gregory in 7th place and teammate Charlotte Helson in 9th place.
1/18 - 1/19 Southwest
The Southwest region held its first race this season at China Peak Mountain Resort in Lakeshore, CA.
The giant slalom events were held for both men and women on Saturday. The University of California at San Diego claimed 1st overall in the men's giant slalom event. UC San Diego’s Ivan Ijzerman placed 1st over UC Santa Barbara’s Forrest Jones by 9.07 seconds. UC Santa Barbara’s Wiley Carver came in 3rd place. UC San Diego’s Alejandro Ostos placed 9th followed by teammate Oliver Phodes in 10th place. University of California at Santa Barbara claimed 2nd overall.
The University of California at San Diego claimed 1st overall in the women’s giant slalom event. UC San Diego’s Jordan Flood came in 1st place over UC Santa Barbara’s Kendall Spieler by 2.22 seconds. UC San Diego’s Lancia Carson placed 4th followed by teammate Chaney Szeto in 5th place. UC Santa Barbara’s Olivia Schulte placed 8th helping University of California, Santa Barbara place second overall.
The slalom events were held for both men and women on Sunday. The University of Southern California claimed 1st overall in the men's slalom event. Southern California’s Andrew Wyatt led the team in 2nd place behind UC San Diego’s Ivan Ijzerman by 27.95 seconds. Southern California’s Thomas Rankin placed 3rd followed by Johannes Peddinghaus in 4th place. The University of California at San Diego placed 2nd overall. UC San Diego’s Oliver Rhodes placed 8th followed by teammate Alejandro Ostos in 9th place. The University of California at San Diego claimed 1st overall in the women’s slalom event. UC San Diego’s Jordan Flood took first place over San Diego State’s Anna Potter by 2.48 seconds. UC San Diego’s Lancia Carson placed 3rd followed by teammate Chaney Szeto in 4th place. Southern California claimed 2nd overall led by Carolyn Marlin in 5th place.
1/19 - 1/20 Rocky Mountain
The Rocky Mountain region held its first race this season at Winter Park Ski Resort in Winter Park, CO. On Sunday both the men’s and women’s slalom events were held.
The University of Colorado at Boulder claimed 1st place overall for the men’s slalom event. Boulder’s Carson McCue claimed 1st place behind Western Colorado’s Tucker Schultz by 1.52 seconds. Boulder’s Riley Schmidt placed 5th and teammate Cole Gedeon placed 8th. The University of Denver placed 2nd overall. Leading the University of Denver was Hamilton Pederson in 4th place. Teammates Wade Hathorne placed 7th and Everett Harrington placed 15th.
The University of Colorado at Boulder claimed 1st place overall for the women’s slalom event. Boulder’s Jenna Blatchford led Boulder to victory with a 2nd place finish behind Colorado State University’s Katie Bervy in 1st place by 3.96 seconds. Boulder’s Kacey Benjaminson placed 3rd followed by teammate Sydney Kraabel in 4th place. Colorado State University placed 2nd place overall led by Katie Bervy in 1st place. Teammates Morley Schroeder placed 16th and Madeline McCarver placed 19th.
On Monday both the men’s and women’s giant slalom events were held. The United States Air Force Academy claimed 1st place overall for the men’s giant slalom event. The Air Force’s Joseph Olson placed 2nd behind Boulder’s Carson McCue by 2.36 seconds. The Air Force’s Luke Kirchmayr placed 3rd and teammate Tyler Bartick placed 5th. Colorado School of Mines placed 2nd overall. Gregoire Brougher of Colorado School of Mines placed 4th. Teammates Peter Spencer placed 9th and Alexander Ball placed 16th.
The University of Denver claimed 1st place overall for the women’s giant slalom event. Boulder’s Sydney Kraabel placed 2nd behind Katie Bervy in 1st place with a 13.42 second difference. Boulder’s Skylar Adelman placed 3rd followed by teammate Ellie Dunham in 4th place. University of Denver’s Emily Miller placed 7th followed by teammate Klara Niss. University of Colorado Boulder placed 2nd overall.
