USCSA Managing Director

The United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) is currently looking for a Managing Director (MD). This opportunity focuses on engagement at multiple levels with the USCSA’s membership that includes: individual athletes, coaches, volunteers, and member organizations. As the premier organization for collegiate snowsports, the USCSA prides itself on the experience it offers its membership. The Managing Director will be the key individual for enabling that experience.
The pillars of this USCSA experience include:
  • High levels of competition - Premier events across multiple snowsports disciplines
  • Recreational engagements - Conference-level competitions where athletes decide intensity
  • Team-building - Lifelong partnerships and friendships formed
  • Personal - Formative personal and professional improvement fostered through USCSA interactions

The Managing Director should be a results-driven leader with a focus on customer service, organization, and attention to detail.
What you’ll do:
  • Provide customer service to the USCSA’s current and potential membership throughout the year, including Registration Assistance, New Team Inquiries, and Outreach Opportunities.
  • Promote and engage the organization and its membership through social media channels.
  • Support the USCSA’s 11 Conferences and their Coordinators in order to provide a consistent USCSA product across the country.
  • Assist the Board of Directors and all organizational committees to drive the USCSA forward towards its strategic vision. This includes regular engagement with external partners and stakeholders, a continued understanding of industry trends, and awareness of USCSA priorities.
  • Aid in the planning and execution of the USCSA National Championships; the pinnacle event to showcase the USCSA Experience.

What we’re looking for:
  • Attention to detail: As a volunteer-driven and geographically dispersed organization, the USCSA needs a highly organized individual to coordinate tasks and maintain oversight on all projects throughout execution. This person should be self-disciplined and driven to excel in a remote environment.
  • Customer service experience: Each of our stakeholder groups requires a unique experience to fit their needs. We are seeking an individual who understands and anticipates the needs of various user groups and is able to provide a high level of service in a timely manner.
  • Agility: Each USCSA conference provides a slightly different experience to its athletes. The Managing Director needs to understand these nuances and support each coordinator’s goals for their members.
  • Curiosity: To learn new athletics disciplines, personalities, and structures that make-up the USCSA, without bias, in order to have a broad view of our organizational value and opportunities. You must be willing to engage regularly with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Educational Leadership Experience: You should be able to provide value to our membership through an ability to understand and guide unique challenges of operating a team/program in higher education.

Specific requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience with document management such as: GSuite, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Quickbooks
  • Demonstrated organization/self-discipline in a remote environment
  • Effective Communicator, across all communication mediums (voice, text, email, etc.)
  • Proven ability to recruit and develop volunteers and committee members
  • Knowledge of public relations as it relates to strategic communications (interviews, press releases, etc.)
  • Snowsports experience is preferred, but not required
  • Higher education administration experience is preferred, but not required

The Managing Director will report directly to the Board of Directors, with oversight provided by the President and Executive Vice President. As a remote position, the majority of your interactions will occur virtually, but there are opportunities for in-person engagements at our National Championships and our annual Summer Conference.
This will be a fully-remote, independent contractor position with negotiable terms based on level of experience. Interested individuals should submit application materials to HR@uscsa.org.
