DISCIPLINES

USCSA is made up of four disciplines including Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, Freeski and Nordic.

USCSA offers space for varsity teams and club teams, with a range of funding options from school support and paid coaching staff to volunteer- or student-led leadership. Competition level and ability ranges from highly competitive to a less competitive, intramural style club sport.

A big difference between USCSA and other snowsport organizations is the team aspect: USCSA athletes compete as a team against other college teams and typically field five or more athletes, with the top three performances used for the team score. USCSA is made up of four disciplines including Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, Freeski and Nordic.

Alpine Skiing

The USCSA offers events in all 11 conferences for the alpine skiing. Competition levels vary, with the Eastern Conference being the only Conference currently offering FIS sanctioned racing during the regular season. Regional and National Championships are highly competitive.

Snowboarders interested in speed events must register under the Snowboard Discipline.

Types of Events:
  • Slalom
  • Giant Slalom

This discipline also includes speed events for snowboarding.

One of the fastest growing disciplines, many conferences offer Nordic events, and some conferences even combine to provide more racing opportunity. Event types alternate yearly between Classic and Freestyle, with highly competitive Regional Championships and National Championships.

Types of Events
  • 15km Mass Start
  • 7.5km Interval Start
  • 1.5km Sprint
  • Team Sprint

The USCSA welcomed Nordic Jumping several years ago and continues to offer this discipline at select venues when there is demand. If you have interest in jumping, please contact our National Office for more details.
