General Rules That Competitors Must Follow

Enrolled full time (as outlined by the institution)
In good academic standing with the institution
Making steady progress toward a degree
Within their window of eligible years of competition

The USCSA follows the NCAA Division II rules (Article 14) for eligibility.

The USCSA’s Eligibility Process Instructions provide a more detailed overview of eligibility highlights. While these instructions do not cover every eligibility situation, they do cover the majority of cases.

Team Eligibility

The Team Contact is responsible for completing the team eligibility process. To avoid delays, confirm that your Team Contact information is accurate in your team’s registration.

Process

The team registers and identifies their Team Contact.
Each student-athlete registers. Their eligibility status is automatically classified as “unverified.”
The Team Contact receives automatic eligibility status emails every Wednesday, starting in October, which include instructions and the following four attachments:
- Team Eligibility Report: This report is produced by SportsEngine based on the student-athletes who have registered.
- Team Roster: This report is produced by SportsEngine based on the Competitors who have registered.
- Individual Academic Eligibility Release Form: These are blank forms for you to distribute if necessary.
- Eligibility Processing Instructions: These instructions are for your registrar.
Verify your Team Roster is complete and accurate.
Bring your Team Eligibility Report and the Eligibility Processing Instructions to your registrar for verification.
- If your registrar requires a signed release form from each student-athlete, distribute the blank Individual Academic Eligibility Release Forms to your team and submit the signed copies to your registrar. We do not need these at the USCSA, so you do not need to send them to us.
Your registrar must verify the Team Eligibility Report and return a certified copy to the USCSA electronically via SendSafely.
The USCSA National Office reclassifies all athletes as either “eligible” or “ineligible”, based on the registrar’s certified Team Eligibility Report.
- If an athlete is deemed ineligible, they may go through the waiver process.
Upon submission of the Team Eligibility Report to the USCSA, the team may receive their regular license.

Institution and Team(s) registrations completed and fee(s) paid
Student-Athlete (Individual Competitor) registration(s) completed and fee(s) paid
Conference or Division registration completed and fees paid (as applicable)
Team Eligibility Report certified by registrar and returned to USCSA
OPTIONAL (if required by the registrar): Individual Academic Eligibility Release Forms signed by each team member, submitted to the Team Contact, and turned in to the registrar
