ABOUT US

About USCSA

The United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association is THE sports federation for collegiate TEAM ski racing and snowboarding in America. You can be part of a team at any college in the United States. The USCSA has an alpine, Nordic, snowboard or freeski collegiate competition program for you. If your college does not have a team, we can assist you in getting one started!

The USCSA believes that student-athletes of ALL levels and abilities should have access to a quality and exciting venue of competition. Our organization also recognizes "student" comes before "athlete," and for our members to be successful individuals, academics should take priority.

Mission

To be the national governing body of collegiate team ski and snowboard competition in the United States; to promote and increase awareness of and participation in alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, free skiing and snowboarding; and to provide competition and development opportunities for student athletes in a team atmosphere leading toward U.S. Collegiate Ski & Snowboard National Championships in each discipline.

Vision

In one year: to increase our engagement within the snowsports community while incorporating best practices.

In three years: to enhance our events by increasing opportunities for participation.

In five years: to be an industry leader of an inclusive snowsports community.

Core Values

The core values of USCSA mean something different to everyone and are prioritized differently for each athlete, institution, alumni, volunteer or partner.

Instead of arranging our core values in a list or chart, which would imply a ranking or certain order of importance, we purposefully designed our values to exist in a circle that anyone can “spin” to arrange the core values in the order in which they are most significant to them.

Why USCSA

Team performance is emphasized within the USCSA, a departure from the typical individual or World Cup scoring format in skiing. Teams field five or more racers, with the top three performances used for the team score. Most former USCSA athletes agree that the USCSA’s team orientation has been the seed for developing and nurturing a team approach in other aspects of their lives and careers.

Overall team performance is considered separately for each discipline, so a college can field any single or combination of women’s alpine, men’s alpine, women’s cross country, men’s cross country, women’s snowboarding, men’s snowboarding, women’s freestyle, men’s freestyle, women’s jumping and men’s jumping.

Strategic Plan

In 2022, the USCSA created and implemented its first-ever strategic plan. This is the result of several years of work led by the Strategic Planning Committee, with the input of and participation from several stakeholders along the way. This five-year plan was approved by the USCSA Board of Directors in September 2022.
