USCSA and SafeSport
The SafeSport Act of 2017, and subsequent updates, mandates new safety requirements that aim to protect youth athletes through abuse prevention training and mandated reporting. National Governing Bodies are required to follow the protocols established by the SafeSport Act.
Policies and Training Requirements
To be in compliance, the USCSA has adopted an Abuse and Molestation Prevention Policy.
In addition, the USCSA has implemented training requirements on all adult coaches (paid or volunteer, acting in any coaching capacity), volunteers, officials, and organizational leadership* affiliated with the organization.
*organizational leadership shall consist of the following: USCSA Board of Directors; USCSA elected officers; USCSA appointed leadership; USCSA Conference & Division Coordinators; USCSA committee members and USCSA paid staff and/or contractors.
Duty to Report
The SafeSport Act and USCSA's Abuse and Molestation Prevention Policy have a mandated reporting component. USCSA's adult coaches, volunteers, officials, and organizational leadership affiliated with the organization are required to report suspected incidents within 24 hours to the appropriate authorities.
Any suspected misconduct must also be reported internally, to the Conduct Official or the appropriate Conference or Division Coordinator. This form is received by the National Office Committee; if any member of that committee or the USCSA Executive Director is the subject of the suspected misconduct, contact your Conference Coordinator.
